About – quickmumdishes
Mia

Hi, my name is
Mia!

And quickmumdishes is my little corner of the internet!

I launched quickmumdishes in 2018 while I was still teaching third‑grade math at a public school in Austin, Texas. I needed fast, kid‑friendly meals that didn’t feel like a chore, so I started jotting down recipes on the back of lesson plans. The first post—“5‑Minute Breakfast Burritos”—went live on a humble WordPress blog and got 120 views in the first week. That tiny spark turned into a daily habit of cooking, photographing, and sharing.

Fast‑forward to today, the site hosts 138 tested recipes, from one‑pan pasta to freezer‑friendly muffins. In March 2022 we hit a milestone of 10,000 monthly visitors; by October 2024 that number swelled to over 45,000 unique readers each month. I’ve added a printable “Meal‑Plan Sheet,” a searchable ingredient index, and a monthly newsletter that now lands in inboxes of 8,200 subscribers. The community has grown so much that I host a quarterly “Quick Mom Meet‑up” on Zoom, where parents swap tips and I answer cooking questions live.

When I’m not stirring a pot, you’ll find me in the backyard of my modest home in the Hill Country, chasing my two energetic kids, Maya (7) and Leo (4), or hunting for the perfect espresso bean. My favorite things are a well‑worn cast‑iron skillet, a Sunday morning hike at Barton Creek, and the sound of my kids laughing while they help whisk batter. One quirky habit? I keep a tiny notebook titled “Kitchen Mistakes” on my fridge—just in case I ever need a reminder that burnt toast can still become a tasty crouton.
